Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has responded to a 12-hour ultimatum by human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, singer Falz, over an allegedly leaked audio recording by the social media critic, VeryDarkMan, on October 16, 2024.
In a series of posts on his Instagram page, Bobrisky denied the charges, stating that he did not defame Falana and Falz, adding that he refused to issue the public apology demanded from him. He further emphasized that VeryDarkMan should be the one blamed for the accusations, since he was the one who leaked the audio recording.
Bobrisky further explained that his privacy should be respected and that he did not publish any libelous content pertaining to the audio. This is days after a High Court of Lagos, ordered VeryDarkMan to remove defamatory videos and comments made against Falanas within 21 days.
The accusation that caused this uproar was made as far back as September 2024, where he accused Falz of reaching out to him while he was in prison to facilitate a presidential pardon through his father. Other accusations in the leaked audio include a N15 million bribe given to EFCC officials and the Nigerian Correctional Service to handle Bobrisky with kid gloves during the imprisonment on accusations of money laundering and Naira mutilation.
He was, however, sentenced to six months in prison for Naira mutilation after the Federal High Court in Lagos discharged and acquitted him of money laundering charges. The issue has been one of wide debate as the battle between the accused Bobrisky, Falana, and Falz continues to pan out.
