Edo State’s incoming Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has just made his first major appointment, naming Fred Itua as his Chief Press Secretary. This announcement comes just a day before Okpebholo officially takes office on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Fred Itua, a well-known journalist and communications consultant, is set to start his role right after Okpebholo’s swearing-in. He’s stepping into this position with a wealth of experience, having previously worked as the Assistant Political Editor for The Sun newspaper. Over his 13-year career, Itua has built a reputation for his insightful reporting on a range of important topics, from national governance to humanitarian crises.

Itua is respected for his ability to craft powerful stories and simplify complex issues for a broad audience. His work covering the National Assembly, migration, health, anti-corruption, and environmental topics has given him a well-rounded perspective on both national and international affairs. With a strong background in public relations and communication strategy, Itua is skilled at building connections across government, media, and the public, which will be invaluable in his new role.

As Okpebholo prepares to step into his new position as Governor, Itua’s expertise and experience will play a vital role in shaping the administration’s public communication and outreach.
