Anthony Davis delivered a dominant performance with 31 points and 14 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought 104-99 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. The Lakers extended their win streak to five games, improving to 9-4 and climbing into a tie for third in the Western Conference standings.

LeBron James contributed 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while rookie Dalton Knecht added an impressive 27 points. Although James fell short of a fifth consecutive triple-double, his late-game heroics proved crucial. James drained a clutch three-pointer with 37 seconds left to give the Lakers a 101-97 lead. Despite Brandon Ingram’s game-high 32 points for the Pelicans, Los Angeles held firm as Knecht and James sealed the win with free throws in the final moments.

Elsewhere, Jayson Tatum stole the spotlight in Toronto, sinking a 28-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Boston Celtics a thrilling 126-123 overtime victory against the Raptors. Tatum nearly notched a triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, while Jaylen Brown led Boston with 27 points. Austrian center Jakob Poeltl scored a career-high 35 points in a valiant effort for Toronto.

In Charlotte, LaMelo Ball delivered a game-high 26 points and clinched the Hornets’ 115-114 victory over Milwaukee with two decisive free throws. Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded his first triple-double of the season with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists but missed a potential game-winning jumper in the final seconds.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks ended their four-game losing streak with a 110-93 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs. Kyrie Irving and reserve Daniel Gafford each scored 22 points, while Luka Dončić added 16. The Spurs, missing star rookie Victor Wembanyama due to a bruised right knee, struggled without their standout player, who has averaged 22.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks this season.

The Lakers continue their upward trajectory as the NBA season heats up, while Tatum’s heroics underscored Boston’s title aspirations.
