The former Senator for Imo North, Athan Achonu, has just emerged as the governorship candidate for the Labour Party for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.
Achonu’s victory had come after a keenly contested election held in Owerri, the state capital, on Saturday, April 15.
Alex Otti, the Chairman of the Election Panel and governor-elect of Abia State, had declared Achonu the winner of the primary, having scored the highest number of votes.
According to Otti, Achonu had scored 134 votes while his closest rival, Jack Ogunewe, had scored 125 votes.
