Alhaji Sani Shehu, also known as Sanin Malam, the acting chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Bauchi State, has been suspended. A letter dated 13th of July, 2022 was written to him, explaining his suspension for “gross indisciplinary behavior and disrespect to the leadership of the party” During a news conference on Wednesday at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bauchi State Council, Babayo Liman, the North-East Zonal Secretary of the NNPP, urged Shehu not to pose as the interim chairman while the allegations against him are being looked into. The letter added that a caretaker Chairman will shortly be announced to carry on the functions of the NNPP Office in Bauchi State and the suspension will be conveyed to appropriate authorities for their knowledge and subsequently necessary action.
Additionally, Liman read the letter sent to the suspended interim Chairman that Shehu allegedly refused to collect to journalists. He claimed that sometime in June 2022, in Abuja, Shehu insulted and challenged the National Board of Trustee Secretary General, Engr. Buba Galadima, in front of the general public, the Zonal National Chairman, and the Zonal National Secretary North East. He continued by saying that he continuously insulted Galadima during the Bauchi State NNPP stakeholders meeting with the National Executive in Abuja, which led to an argument with Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s national leader and presidential candidate.
Shehu was however instructed to write a letter of apology to the National Leader Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Engr. Buba Galadima, the National Chairman, and all National Executives through the National Zonal Headquarters North-East within 48 hours of the receipt of this query or, in the alternative, explain why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against him.
