Actor James Ransone Dies at 46

American actor James Ransone, widely recognised for his portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka in HBO’s acclaimed series The Wire, has died at the age of 46.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that his death was ruled a suicide by hanging.

Ransone built a notable career across both television and film, earning praise for his performances in projects such as Generation Kill, It: Chapter Two, The Black Phone, and Sinister. His work was often lauded for its intensity and emotional depth.

Actor James Ransone Dies at 46

Born on June 2, 1979, in Baltimore, Maryland, the actor is survived by his wife, Jamie McPhee, and their two children.

In past interviews, Ransone had spoken candidly about his battles with addiction and personal trauma, using his experiences to inform his craft and connect more deeply with audiences.
