Nigerian-American actress Idia Aisien has spoken candidly about a disappointing moment in a former relationship, revealing how her attempt to support a partner financially ended in betrayal.

During a conversation on Toke’s Moment with media personality Toke Makinwa, the actress explained that she previously believed in helping her partners during difficult periods, especially when they were trying to grow their businesses.

She said she once gave an ex-boyfriend a large sum of money after he complained that his business was struggling and needed funds for an investment.

“I used to spend money on guys. If they complained that their business wasn’t doing well, I would give them a couple of millions. At the time, I was dating to marry, so I didn’t want my partner to struggle; I tried to help when he was trying to invest in something,” she said.

Aisien noted that she offered such support because she believed kindness and generosity at the beginning of a relationship would eventually be returned.

“I believed that if you help a guy in the beginning, later when he’s better, he will help you in return, and that how you treat him is how he will eventually treat you,” she explained.

However, the situation later took an unexpected turn when she discovered that the man had allegedly used the money for a trip with another woman.

“There was an ex I gave money to when he said his business was down. Later, his phone suddenly stopped going through, but I later found out he had flown a popular girl to Dubai,” she said.

According to the actress, her brother later confirmed the situation after spotting the man with another woman and sharing photo evidence with her.

“He insisted his phone was having issues, but one of my brothers told me they saw him with another woman and even had picture evidence. When I confronted him, he first said it was his friends who forced him to go on the trip, then later claimed it was also for business,” she added.

Aisien began her acting career in 2017 and gained wider attention in 2020 after starring in the remake of the Nollywood classic Nneka: The Pretty Serpent.
