Famous Nollywood actress, Opeyemi Aiyeola, has opened up about why she distanced herself from her colleagues in the movie industry after getting married.
Speaking during a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actress revealed that she deliberately cut ties with people in the industry for the sake of her marriage and family.
Opeyemi, who relocated to the United States after tying the knot with her husband, Olayiwola Abdulwakilu, explained that she went off the entertainment radar for more than a decade to prioritize her home.
“I was off the scene for more than ten years, and I apologised to my fans. I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s contact in the industry,” she said.
The mother of two added that the decision was fueled by her desire to avoid the kind of marital crises that are often associated with celebrities.
“Let’s appreciate our lovers because they caused it. Some of them will say practitioners don’t have stable homes or lives, but they don’t know what happens behind those relationships. So, because I didn’t want my own to be like that, I blocked everyone from the industry for 10 years,” she explained.
Having now returned to the screen, Opeyemi said she’s ready to fully focus on her career while raising her children.
“I unblocked everybody when I finally returned to focus on my career. I have two boys, and I have sacrificed everything for them. They should now allow me to also carve my own career,” she added.
