The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had on Monday, April 17, ordered the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, to avoid the commission’s state office.
INEC’s action is coming on the heels of Yunusa-Ari’s declaration of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Aisha Dahiru, aka Binani as the governor-elect in Saturday’s supplementary election.
The REC’s action had then been condemned by several political pundits, with the Peoples Democratic Party governors calling for his prosecution.
Meanwhile, Binani has filed a suit seeking an order to bar INEC and its agents from taking any further steps towards declaring the winner of the election pending the determination of her court case at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, April 18.
Recall that Yunusa-Ari had announced Binani as the winner of the supplementary polls while the collation of the election results was still underway, causing confusion in the state and drawing consternation nationwide.
