Certain major roads in Osogbo and Ilesa have been barricaded today, Saturday, January 28 by protesters allegedly displeased with the decision of the Election Petition Tribunal that yesterday, Friday, January 27, sacked Senator Ademola Adeleke as governor of the state.
The protesters, who barred vehicular movement along Osogbo/Ikirun road, also prevented traffic to Gbongan/Osogbo and beat up several commercial motorcyclists that were operating in the town.
This incident left many commuters stranded, with most of them having to trek long distances to their destinations. Additionally, many business places did not open their doors to customers over the fear of attack by the hoodlums.
Meanwhile, in a reaction to the incident, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said that more officials have been deployed to the identified spots where roads were blocked to traffic and that the situation was under control.
