Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and his younger brother, actor Aremu Afolayan, have resolved their disputes and eventually led themselves to reconciliation after several years of tension and public drama. Their emotional reunion went down at the wake-keep ceremony for their late mother in Oyo State.
The beef between two brothers of the old filmographer, Ade Love, went to the centre pages in 2018 when Aremu accused their father of living in poverty despite his fame. Kunle clapped back and called Aremu “stupid,” and from the look of things, it appeared their relationship was irreconcilable.
However, at the wake-keep, Kunle turned this into an avenue to reconcile them. In a speech to friends and family present, Kunle declared, “I am not Aremu’s brother but his father. I trained him.” The statement, though pointed, drove home Kunle’s desire to mend their fractured bond.
Aremu, overcome with emotion, apologized for his actions toward his brother. This moving speech marked a newfound understanding between the two men, ending years of hostility.
