The National chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may need to make two specific requests of the political party’s national leadership. Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, is absent from the scene to watch things and further his own goal. He is now in the United Kingdom and may be unable to attend the APC state conventions.
Tinubu was instrumental in establishing the All Progressives Congress from the ground up. He was an active and constructive participant in the election that resulted in the victory of Muhammadu Buhari. Unfortunately, he is unavailable in the country when the political party’s national convention or primary election is approaching. As a result, he must make the requests.
The national caretaker committee, led by Mai Mala Buni, has set October 16 as the party’s congresses in each of the country’s 36 states. It’s also worth noting that state chairpersons have several responsibilities when choosing the presidential candidate. They often accompany delegates to national conventions.
Tinubu is supposed to ensure that his key supporters are elected in the majority of states, particularly in the north. He is, however, recovering and may not be able to leave London to attend the congresses at this time. He may, however, request that a certain percentage of his supporters be elected in the states.
Tinubu is fortunate in that he has friends in the northern area. In Kano State, he has close connections. Tinubu has a close ally in Mr. Umar Ganduje. Ganduje even arranged for some people to pay a visit to Tinubu in London. In summary, Tinubu should insist that politicians who share his aspirations be elected to the state leadership of the APC.
Tinubu should explicitly seek the APC ticket for the 2023 presidential election if the party’s first demand is virtually difficult to fulfill. Analysts think he will almost certainly represent the APC in the 2023 election. The Northern Elders Forum and several other politicians, on the other hand, have claimed that the north has the right to compete for the seat.
Abdullahi Adamu, a senior APC senator, has claimed that the zoning formula championed by southern lawmakers is unconstitutional. He is correct, but until the ticket is allocated to the southern area, Tinubu may not fight northern politicians.
