FC Barcelona sensation Aitana Bonmati, already a Balon d’Or recipient, added another illustrious accolade to her name by becoming the first footballer ever to clinch the Sportswoman of the Year award at the prestigious Laureus Awards ceremony. The midfielder’s remarkable achievement highlighted her exceptional contributions to both club and country during the 2022/23 season.

Bonmati played a pivotal role in FC Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League triumph, showcasing her immense talent and skill on the pitch. Her stellar performances catapulted her to international stardom, earning her widespread acclaim and recognition.

Moreover, the 26-year-old midfielder led the Spanish women’s national team to unprecedented success, guiding them to victory in their inaugural World Cup and Nations League campaigns.
