It’s been one year after the Owo Massacre at St Francis Catholic Church, where some gunmen on a Sunday, June 5, 2022, invaded the church and killed not less than 40 persons, leaving several casualties.
This act was condemned by several Nigerians, as this was a highlight of Nigeria’s battle with insecurity.
It’s been one year after the attack, Governor Akeredolu released a statement on Tuesday, to mark the anniversary of the attack.
According to him, it’s a year already since alot lives were wasted, due to acts perpetrated by workers of inquity.
“It’s been one year since the massacre that occurred at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo. Forty-one persons were killed, while several others were injured. Workers of iniquity invaded our land and terminated the lives of our people. It was a black Sunday,” the statement read.
He also revealed that, constructions for a memorial Park are currently ongoing, in honour of those who lost their lives in the incident. As it’s an honest gesture from the state to Immortalise those who were killed by those gunmen.
Nigeria has suffered overtime from insecurity, seeing how many lives have been lost due to insecurity in Nigeria. There are high expectations from the new government as everyone expects, the new administration to proffers solutions to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.
