A 41-year-old man identified as David Ubaha had on Monday, February 19, staged a lone protest in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, to air his grievances over the severe economic situation in Nigeria.

Ubaha, who is a businessman and native of Itu Local Government Area of the state, was seen with a placard tucked in the front and back of his shirt, bemoaning the situation on the country, expressing that it has become very unbearable and that many citizens can no longer cope.

While speaking with newsmen who waylaid him, Ubaha outlined Nigeria’s problems to include Naira depreciation, insecurity, unplanned fuel subsidy removal, and spiralling inflation, among others.

President Bola Tinubu was urged by Ubaha to start local production, expand the economy, refurbish dying industries and invest more in mechanical farming.

Ubaha had said:
“The situation [of the country] has negatively affected me. The price of fuel, cost of food in the market have gone up. I’m not speaking for myself alone, but looking at what the society is passing through, it pains me,” he said.

“The idea on how to secure this country does not lie with our leaders alone; it lies with the people, but the saddest part is that when these ideas are being suggested by the people, the leaders will not take them into consideration.
