The Akwa Ibom State Government has just announced the suspension of all levies and daily tickets to tricycle and minibus operators in the Uyo metropolis of the state.
According to the state Commissioner for Transport, Uno Etim Uno, on Monday, March 13, the gesture was to ease the situation of cash crunch and other challenges suffered by transporters as a result of the cashless policy imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The statement released by Uno read,
“The Akwa Ibom State Government hereby graciously grants a five-day suspension of daily ticketing for operators of commercial tricycles and minibusses due to the harsh realities occasioned by the cash crunch in the country. This suspension will take effect from Monday, March 17, 2023.
