Onyinyechi Basil from Anambra State has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 following a spectacular finale held in Lagos on Saturday night.

Basil clinched the title after a tight contest against Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, who finished as first runner-up. The pageant organizers officially announced Basil as the winner amid a night full of excitement and applause.

Fortune Kurobo of Bayelsa emerged as second runner-up, while Irene Ikediashi from Ogun secured third place. Additionally, Idah Eno of Akwa Ibom, who made it to the top five, earned the separate crown of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.

The competition started with 22 contestants, of whom 10 progressed to the final stages. Notable finalists who did not make the top five included De-Blessing Asaboro (Delta), Ezekiel Silver (Ekiti), Chukwukereobi Chinaza (Imo), Ugoaru Onuoha (Ebonyi), and Lagoke Funmike (Oyo).

The event was a celebration of Nigerian culture and creativity. Contestants impressed the audience in the traditional attire segment, which fused contemporary fashion with indigenous fabrics. The swimwear round highlighted confidence and body positivity, while opening dance performances added vibrant energy to the evening.

Public voting showed high engagement, with Delta’s De-Blessing Asaboro leading with 38,319 votes, followed by Lagos’ Damilola Bolarinde with 34,033 votes, and Ekiti’s Ezekiel Silver at 28,074 votes.

The finale, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, attracted a large audience both in person and online. With her win, Basil takes over from Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidinma Adetshina, and will represent Nigeria on the global stage later this year at the Miss Universe pageant.
