Carlo Ancelotti, the present Brazil coach and a former Real Madrid boss, received a one-year suspended prison sentence from a Spanish court because of tax fraud, which was from 2014.
A judge in Spain claimed that the 66-year-old Italian has not given the declaration to more than one million euro in his image rights related to the contract at Real Madrid during his first period there.
The prosecutors state that Ancelotti is stealing money from their place by hiding it from the taxes through the companies and at the beginning, they claimed that the punishment should be four years and nine months.
The Madrid court however, only sentence him for one count of tax fraud of 2014 after the staff of the prosecutor declared no crime for the 2015 fiscal year to be part of the case.
During the April hearing of the case, the coach of Real Madrid from 2013 until 2015 and again in 2021, Ancelotti, affirmed that he had no intention of defrauding the authorities when he appeared in court.
He said that he did not know that if part of his salary was given through the image rights, it could lead to a less amount of tax to be paid.
Given the result of the trial, Ancelotti will not be in jail as the convict is less than two years and he does not have a criminal record. However, he was also given a fine of €386,361 ($452,821). According to Ancelotti, he has moved out from Spain.
