Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologized to her colleague Mercy Johnson after a highly publicized dispute that drew legal attention and widespread online scrutiny.
The apology follows Okorie’s recent release from custody, after she was arrested in Lagos by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and remanded at the Suleja correctional centre over alleged cyber-related offences linked to their feud.
The disagreement began last year when Okorie accused Johnson of battling “an ailment I do not wish on my enemies” and criticized her for what she called hypocrisy, citing Johnson’s public use of religious expressions while allegedly wronging others. Johnson initially responded with a cryptic social media message but avoided further engagement.

In a video shared on Instagram, Okorie expressed regret for her actions and extended her apologies to Johnson and her family. She blamed the dispute partly on gossip within the industry, which she said created misunderstandings between both parties.
“This video is specifically for Mercy, her kids and family. You know when we were getting older, a lot of things would leave you. When we growing in the industry, a lot of people would come and tell me that Mercy said and some people would tell Mercy that Angela said,” she explained.
“There have been issues, quarrels, chaos, loggerheads and at this age, I do not think that this is what I want. The only thing I want right now is money, business. If you have business, please call me. I am no longer listening to those cheap gossips.”
Okorie further clarified that she regrets anything she said about Johnson online and emphasised that the accusations did not reflect reality.
“I just want to apologise to you. If it is just my words, if it is the words that I have written anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch, you are not what people are calling you,” she said.
She concluded by highlighting her concern for their children, condemning the bullying that Johnson’s children faced due to the feud.
“This is just to say I am sorry, we do not know where our kids would meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends. These kids have been traveling far and wide, they can meet anywhere in the world. I do not like the fact that they call my sis kids witches in school and they bully them. If they do it to my child, I would not take it. So this is to say I am sorry, deeply sorry for everything.”
