Anthony Albanese, the Labour Party candidate in the recently concluded Australian elections has been marked as the winner and the new Prime Minister. According to reports, this is the first win the Labour Party has had in almost ten years in an election where Mr. Albanese beat the incumbent Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The Prime Minister has accepted his loss and applauded his opponent as an outpouring of congratulatory messages flows in from such persons as Mr. Boris Johnson, the United Kingdom (UK)’s Prime Minister. Mr. Albanese is expected to create an entirely new cabinet and government once he ascends to the seat.
With international observers closely watching the elections there has been much debate over the kind of government this would be. The Prime Minister-elect is well known for his insistence on Free Healthcare for Australians, his advocacy for LGBT rights as well as years of experience in both federal and state politics. Even before the polls were called, Mr. Albanese often promised to bring about an era of “safe change” stating that at the time of Saturday’s elections, experts are sure of Mr. Albanese’s victory in the polls.
