Kimi Antonelli astonished the Formula 1 world once again by winning the Japanese Grand Prix and at the same time, claiming the championship lead, which makes him the youngest ever in the history of the sport.

The teenager, Mercedes driver, who is 19 years old, managed to recover from an early setback after he had to drop down the order as he was the one who started the race in the pole position and he took a strong win at Suzuka. He was 13.7 seconds faster than Oscar Piastri, who came in second, while Charles Leclerc secured the third position.

At first, the race seemed to be going against Antonelli, but a big crash of Oliver Bearman occurred, which led to a safety car. Antonelli took advantage of the situation and made the pit stop perfectly, which allowed him to get the lead. On the other hand, his teammate George Russell, who had pitted before, lost his position.

Having won also in China, Antonelli, with his masterful control and solid pace, managed to put the final seal on his second victory in a row. With this course of events, he is placed in the first position nine points ahead of Russell, who is second and as a matter of fact, he is the first Italian to win consecutive races after Alberto Ascari in 1953.

Russell secured the position of number four, last year’s champion, Lando Norris, came in fifth, and Hamilton was far behind. In other matters, Max Verstappen got the eighth position and scored some points, although he did not have a smooth race.
