The ruling party, All Progressives Congress in Osun State has urged its members of the party to embark on a one week (seven-day) fasting and prayer session, beginning from Friday to seek God’s favor as the Election Petition Tribunal hearing the party’s petition delivers its judgement.
Recall that August 2022, Gboyega Oyetola, the ex-governor of Osun State and the APC political party had petitioned the tribunal to challenge the election victory of the now Governor, Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Among several issues raised, Oyetola is contending an overvoting in 749 polling units across the 10 LGAs of the state.
Meanwhile, the Justice presiding over the case, – the Tetse Kume-led panel- had concluded sitting on the petitions and judgement is expected to be delivered before the end of January 2023
The panel is expected to deliver its judgement before the end of January.
While giving a statement on his party’s recent announcement for members in Osun State, the APC Acting State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, had remarked that the exercise was a necessary one for the party.
“I believe in the efficacy of prayers and that there are no challenges that are greater than the powers of prayers to the Almighty. I appeal to APC members to not treat the fasting and prayers session with levity. I am convinced that God will perform miracles through the collective prayers of our party members.” The statement had partly read.
