The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced the results of the election in 92 of the 109 senatorial seats as of the time of filing this report. In total, the ruling party received 51 seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 27.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is far ahead of other political parties that participated in the Senate election on Saturday, February 25.
The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) each received two seats, giving the Labour Party a total of five seats. Young Progressives Party (YPP) was successful in winning a Senate seat. There are still 17 seats available.
Surprises have emerged thus far in the election as opposition parties gained ground in previously uncontrolled states.
