The All Progressive Congress (APC) has instructed its legal team to file a complaint against the announcement of Abba Yusuf, a candidate for governor from the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), as the victor of the Kano gubernatorial election on March 18.
The party’s spokesperson, Ahmed Aruwa, revealed this on Saturday and asserted that the declaring process was against the established election regulations.
He stated that the Kano APC disputes the results announced by INEC, which affirmed the NNPP candidate as the winner of the governorship elections.
He also added that the requirements of the legislation regulating the overall conduct of the elections are violated by the proclamation of the winner of the elections as proclaimed by INEC.
Although Nasiru Gawuna, the APC’s candidate for governor, congratulated the newly elected governor, the party is pursuing legal action.
By designating Abba Gida Gida, as he is affectionately known, as the governor-elect of the State, INEC, according to Mr. Aruwa, “acted in opposition to the terms of the electoral regulations.”
The state party hierarchy has instructed its legal arm to proceed with challenging the results of the elections before the Miller Road Court Complex’s state governorship election petition panel in reaction to the current circumstances.
