The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Delta State has expelled Ms. Lauretta Onochie, chair of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), from the organization.
Her suspension from the party was confirmed by executive party members in Onicha-Olona Ward 4 of the State’s Aniocha North local government area following an assessment of her behavior during the State’s recently concluded 2023 general elections.
According to a copy of her suspension letter that was sent to our correspondent, she was allegedly caught supporting candidates from opposition political parties, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
It was said that her allies and supporters worked for the PDP as well, causing the APC to lose the election in her voting unit and other locations.
The APC Ward executives approved a vote of no confidence in Onochie, claiming that she had never paid her dues to the party, hadn’t shown up to meetings with the Ward and LGA, and hadn’t participated in any other party activities.
