The votes for Egor Local Government Area have been collated, revealing that the APC candidate, Monday Okpebholo, has won a majority of the votes, closely followed by the PDP. The INEC returning officer for the local government, John Adama, announced Okpebholo’s victory on Sunday morning.
Adama noted that out of a total of 242,266 registered voters in the area, 35,463 were accredited for the election. Of the votes cast, 34,082 were valid, with Okpebholo receiving 16,716 votes. Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 14,658 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) received 1,966 votes.
Despite the close competition between the APC and the PDP, this victory is significant for the APC amid the heightened tensions in Edo.
