Apple Inc. has formally submitted a proposal to invest approximately $10 million in Indonesia aiming to increase its production of products in the country.
This decision follows the US technology company’s efforts to overturn the Indonesian government’s recent prohibition on selling its newest iPhone model.
Last month, Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry stopped the iPhone 16 from being sold in the market because Apple didn’t meet a requirement to use 40% local materials. Apple’s new plan involves setting up a production facility in Bandung, which is near Jakarta, by working with its suppliers.
According to sources, the factory would make accessories and parts for different Apple products. The ministry is now looking at Apple’s investment plan, which is not final and could still undergo changes.
