World Legendary footballer, Lionel Messi has revealed the reason why they couldn’t win the 2018 world cup game, which was due to their inability to get past the group stages.

Argentina was sent packing out of the 2018 world cup games after losing 4-3 to Iceland in the knockout stages.

According to Messi, the inability to make it past the qualifiers cost them the winner of the world cup games.

He further said that the Argentina team was not organized due to the change of coach, the whole team was in a disorganized state, but he believed that if they had been able to defeat Iceland, it would have changed the scenario for them.

The truth is that we didn’t get to it well, the qualifiers cost us,” Messi said.

“There were a lot of changes, a mess in the middle of the Argentina national team with the change of coach, of players…We finished badly but I kept thinking that if we won that first game, everything would have been totally different.

“With Croatia, we played a different way. Until the first goal, we were great and we had just qualified in the last game and even so, we didn’t win against France. When we got the 2-1 Pavard scored that great goal from outside of the area. But we were already bad.”

Many fans are rooting for Argentina to win this year’s world cup game in Qatar, and for Messi to cement his status as the world’s greatest footballer of all time. This will  be a special world cup game for Messi as he announced that it will be his last, considering his age, the seven times Balon D’or winner is 36 years old
