Nigerian Army in Borno State Rescues 7 Women, 9 Children from Terrorists

Troops from the Nigerian Army in Borno State successfully rescued seven women and nine children who had been abducted by terrorists from their homes.

The rescue operation was part of coordinated counter-terrorism efforts involving collaboration with the Vigilante and Hybrid Force.

According to a statement released on X.com on Friday, the Army reported that one terrorist was killed during the operation, and significant amounts of arms and ammunition were recovered.

The operations included an ambush in Gwoza Local Government Area targeting terrorist staging areas near Pulka and Ashagashiya. Troops engaged with the terrorists, eliminating one and causing the others to flee, leaving behind their belongings in disarray.

The military successfully rescued 7 women and 9 children from terrorists, along with seizing a submachine gun, bicycles, blankets, cooking utensils, and various other items.

Additionally, troops engaged in an ambush in Borno State’s Komala area, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist and the recovery of multiple weapons. Another ambush in the same area led to the neutralization of a terrorist, along with the retrieval of two AK-47 rifles, 29 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and 91 belted links of PKT ammunition.

Additional items recovered in a separate operation in Benue State included weapons such as an SMG, two AK-47 rifles, an SMG magazine, nine 9mm rounds, and a motorbike. The Army conducted the operation in response to intelligence reports on terrorist movements in Ayati Village, Ukum LGA.

The terrorists fled upon encountering the troops, leaving behind weapons like an AK-47 rifle, a Dane gun, launchers, and ammunition.

Furthermore, troops successfully prevented a ransom payment to kidnappers in Kogi State by engaging them in a gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of one kidnapper and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle at the exchange point in Okunran Okoloke General Area.
