Arsenal Celebrate Emirates Milestone with Dominant Win Over Manchester United

Arsenal celebrated their 500th game at the Emirates Stadium in style as they beat Manchester United 2-0 to secure a fourth successive league win against the Red Devils for the first time in history.

Despite an otherwise bright opening from the Gunners, Gabriel Martinelli saw a goal correctly ruled out for offside before Thomas Partey nodded over a gilt-edged header from a corner. United, rotated heavily by Ruben Amorim, could not get going and did not manage a touch in Arsenal’s box inside the first half-hour.

Arsenal were dominant, particularly at set pieces, pinning the visitors back as Martinelli almost struck again before the break.

The second half, though, belonged to Arsenal as they converted their pressure into goals. Jurrien Timber flicked in Declan Rice’s corner just 10 minutes after the restart, continuing Arsenal’s fine set-piece record with their 21st goal from corners since last season. Amorim introduced debutant Leny Yoro among a triple substitution but it did little to alter the flow of the game.

William Saliba doubled the lead, benefiting from another corner delivered by Bukayo Saka. Arsenal saw out the game with ease, though Kai Havertz missed a third. The victory moves the Gunners closer to league leaders Liverpool, extending their unbeaten home run to 13 matches.
