President Bola Tinubu is set to reveal the largest painting portrait on canvas, marking the 25th anniversary of Democracy in the nation.
During an interview with Arise News on Wednesday morning, Opeyemi Alaba, the coordinator of the painting project, announced that the president is scheduled to unveil the artwork later today at Eagles Square in Abuja.
Describing the painting as a beacon of hope for Nigerians and the African continent, Alaba refrained from disclosing its theme. However, he did reveal that the painting was a collaborative effort involving 37 painters, each representing one of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He also shared that the portrait took inspiration from depictions of former United States President Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth.
Earlier, the President delivered the 2024 Democracy Day speech, covering various national issues. He reaffirmed his dedication to making democracy the bedrock of Nigerian society and urged citizens to remain hopeful for a better tomorrow.
