The editor of the France Football has labelled the claims that Lionel Messi has already been chosen as the recipient of the 2021 Ballon d’Or award as “bullshit”.
The Ballon d’or award ceremony is expected to take place this month and different rumours has been circulating round the media that the winner has already been determined.
The Argentina Legend is being tipped to covert his seventh honour after a profilic season with Barcelona and playing a key role in helping Argentina win the Copa America for the first time since 1993.
When asked about the reports emerging that the winner has been chosen, the France Football editor, Pascal Ferre has this to say:
“There has been a lot of speculations going round the media in the past 10 days that we have decided who will win the Ballon d’Or prize, I want to tell you that it’s a big bluff and there’s no winner yet.”
Robert Lewandowski is among the favourites to win the award for his brilliant form for Bayern Munich and Poland, Cristiano Ronaldo will also be looking to win the prestigious prize for the sixth time, Karim Benzema and Chelsea Jorginho made the cut for the list after a successful season for club and country.
53 jury of sport journalists have casted their votes in the last couple of weeks and the winner will be announced when the event take place later this month.
