Bank officials and customers have bemoaned the quality of the old naira notes reintroduced into circulation by the CBN amidst the slow disappearance of the new notes.

This is because the bank workers and customers who collect large cash deposits from depositors were worried that the dirty and mutilated notes could spread diseases.

A teller at a bank in the Ibafo Ogun State, who spoke on condition of anonymity, had told reporters that handling dirty notes was a thing of concern to her and her colleagues as several of the notes were moldy and had bad smells.

Meanwhile attempted calls and messages placed to the CBN spokesman, Isa Abdulmumin, on Friday, March 31 to get his opinion have been unanswered.
