The popular Nigerian comic icon, Bright Okpocha, famously known as Basketmouth, has dropped a bombshell that in 2025, he’s going to be shifting focus to music and filmmaking.
In an interview with Pulse, Basketmouth made the revelation that comedy wasn’t his original plan, which he referred to as a “fluke” career move. “I started with music but saw it wasn’t going to work. Comedy just happened, and when it worked, I ran with it,” he shared.
Now, the comic-turned-artist is going back to his first loves. “Music and movies have always been my priority,” he said, adding that he intends to put out EPs and work with artists while focusing most of his attention on filmmaking.
The move by Basketmouth marks a new chapter for the comedy heavyweight who built a legacy by “hacking” the comedy scene and skyrocketing to fame. The fans await his reinvention into the world of music and film.
