The BBNaija Season 9 reunion show opened with heated drama on Monday night as former housemates and ex-lovers, Zion and Chinwe, clashed over who ended their relationship.

Zion claimed he initiated the split, pointing to a mismatch in their life ambitions.

“I basically ended things [broke up with Chinwe] because I felt like we were moving in different places in our lives; how she let it play out,” he told the show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

However, Chinwe swiftly challenged his version of events, calling it false and accusing him of twisting the story.

“What Zion will not do is sit here and lie on me now. You could have owned the narrative, my love. What do you mean you broke up with me?” she responded sharply.

She recalled an incident that she believes marked the turning point in their relationship. According to her, she had asked Zion to spend the night with her before she travelled back to her base, but instead, he went partying and switched off his phone. She said he later drove past her area on his way to a friend’s place without checking on her.

The argument deepened when Chinwe suggested that the aftermath of their breakup affected her relationship with Zion’s inner circle. She disclosed that his family and friends disliked her for publicly revealing that she had provided financial support while he was in the Big Brother house.

“Zion came back to me, ask me for money again I gave it to Zion less than 3 days after Zion ghosted me. That was the point I said I was not getting anything from this relationship. Zion has never taken me out,” she added.
