Beyoncé is now the sole owner of whisky brand SirDavis American Whisky, after Moët Hennessy sold its share in the company to Knowles-Carter, two years after co-launching the brand.
The company issued a short statement confirming the change. “SirDavis starts its new independent chapter, after a nearly four-year transformative collaboration through creation, development and launch. Knowles-Carter takes full ownership and control, making SirDavis a woman, family, and Black-owned company. She builds on the tradition of creating and running her companies, built from the ground up.”
Financial details of the deal were not immediately available.
The Brand’s Origins
SirDavis debuted in 2024 through a partnership between Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy, the luxury wine and spirits division of LVMH. The brand is named in honor of Knowles-Carter’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who reportedly made moonshine during the Prohibition era.
“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Beyoncé said at the time of the launch.
Upon launch in 2024, Beyoncé shared a letter to Hogue on the company website. “I feel you in the landscapes. Your laughter rolling in the rye. What songs did you sing? What gaps did you fill? Great-grandfather, did you dream of me? Your legacy is a force that drives me. For you, I raise my glass to legacy.”

A New Chapter
The move gives Beyoncé full ownership and control of the brand, making it a woman, family, and Black-owned company. The transition comes nearly four years after the initial collaboration with Moët Hennessy began.
The brand has been positioned as a premium American whisky, with Beyoncé’s involvement bringing significant attention to the category.
The Bottom Line
Beyoncé has become the sole owner of SirDavis American Whisky after Moët Hennessy sold its share in the brand. The whisky, named after her great-grandfather Davis Hogue, is now a woman, family, and Black-owned company. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
