Nollywood veteran Bimbo Akintola has opened up about why she remains unmarried at 52 years old, explaining that her marital status is shaped more by life’s circumstances and personal values than by choice.

In a recent interview with Pulse Nigeria, which was later shared on Instagram, the actress revealed that she has no children and is still searching for the right partner to share her life with.

Bimbo shared a poignant part of her story, recalling that she once believed she had found her ideal spouse, but tragically, he passed away. Since then, she has yet to meet someone she feels truly connected with.

The actress, who hails from a mixed heritage with her mother from Edo State and father from Oyo State, emphasized her strong belief in the sanctity of marriage. For her, marriage is a sacred bond meant to be celebrated in the presence of God and loved ones.

She stated she remains open to marriage whenever the right person comes along, regardless of her age.

In her own words, Bimbo said, “I don’t have children, unfortunately. Marriage is important. It’s a simple act, done in the house of God, surrounded by loved ones, where vows are made to cherish and commit for life.

“I haven’t found the person to spend the rest of my life with. I thought I did, but he died. Since then, I haven’t met anyone who feels right. I can’t live a lie—I want to be truthful to myself and to God. I don’t want to marry someone I don’t believe I can stay with forever.

“If I believe I can, I would marry, even if I’m 78. Why not? Marriage is significant. It’s not the be-all and end-all for women, but it’s important, especially as you grow older. When children grow up and start living their own lives, loneliness can set in, and having a companion in later years is essential.”
