Mr. Emmanuel Agema, the Chairman of BIRS, had led the TaskForce Team which was launched by Governor Hyacinth Aliai in September.

The Task Force team had dismantled the checkpoint at the Area and the nabbed suspects were handed over to the police to face the law.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Taskforce Team, CSP George Iorbee (rtd) had in an interview with newsmen, remarked that the team comprising of the police and the Civil Defence Corps were specifically aimed at eradicating unlawful checkpoints and sanitizing the state of numerous extortion on motorists.

He also stated that after the three hoodlums, the task force team met with significant resistance on their way back and found out that the Illegal checkpoints had already been recommissioned.

Mr Iorbee and his team had quickly retreated and reinforced with several army officers who arrested six more of the hoodlums.

Some of the passersby and commuters along the route had expressed their appreciation and satisfaction towards the state government for the operation, and had appealed for the operation remain a routine so as to indelibly force the illegal checkpoint operators into extinction.
