The Senate House had on Wednesday, August 2, set up a committee to talk with the protesting unions who destroyed the National Assembly Complex first gate.
The protesters had stormed the Unity Fountain complex in their hundreds demonstrating against the “anti-poor” people strategies of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio had urgently entered into a closed-door session with the lawmakers and upon the conclusion of the session, stated that the red chamber had instated a three-man committee to meet with the protesters at the National Assembly.
The committee was headed by Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, from Borno South Senatorial District.
The Senate had additionally, pledged that it will within the shortest possible time, meet with the NLC and TUC leadership to find a friendly resolution to the present deadlock.
Ndume and the other dispatched lawmakers: Senator Ireti Kingibe and Senator Tony Nwonye had afterwards, met with the protesters at the National Assembly.
The Senators had engaged with Joe Ajaero, the president Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Festus Osifi, his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart.
