President Buhari on Thursday, May 11 appointed retiring Assistant Inspector General of Police, Garba Baba Umar as the latest Senior Security Adviser, SSA on International Police Cooperation and Counter-terrorism in the office of the Minister of Police Affairs.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Garba Shehu, the appointment was made to help Nigeria keep the important position of being a part of the International Police Cooperation.
Shehu had also revealed that President Buhari had additionally taken note of the fact that during his tenure as a member of the Executive Committee, AIG Umar had assisted Nigeria in several ways, even hoping to do more in securing equipment for crime scenes, aiding border management and counter-terrorism for the country and in helping to enlist more Nigerians into important positions in the INTERPOL with the little time available before Buhari leaves office.
AIG Umar’s new appointment as Senior Security Adviser takes effect from May 16, 2023.
