According to the relevant provisions of the Constitution, President Buhari has written to the Senate for the screening and reconfirmation of past Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Aisha Ahmad, and Edward Adamu.
His request was read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, to the hearing of the house, in Tuesday’s session.
This was done following Section 121 of the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, seeking the Approval of the Senate.
The principle of checks and balances comes into play, to curtail the powers of each arm of Government, to prevent one arm from having too much power. The Executive arm requires the approval and consideration of the legislature for certain things.
