Brigadier General Y. D. Ahmed has been named Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ahmed will take over the scheme’s leadership on Monday from Christy Uba, who has been acting in the role for almost three months after Brigadier General Mohammed Fadah was fired for alleged ineptitude and poor performance.
Uba was the Director of Information and Communications Technology until being promoted to the position of most senior director in the NYSC on November 22, 2022.
She had made history by becoming the first woman to be appointed to the position of DG NYSC since its inception almost 50 years ago.
