After a successful operation to treat the vice president’s leg fracture, President Muhammadu Buhari wished Vice President Yemi Osinbajo a swift and complete recovery on Saturday. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, Buhari expressed gratitude to God for the operation’s success and prayed for Osinbajo’s speedy recovery. The medical staff of the Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State was thanked by the president for their expertise and a job well done.

Osinbajo had earlier announced on Saturday that he would be having surgery in a post on his Twitter account. After enduring leg pain, the vice president admitted that surgery was required. He mentioned that while playing squash, he fractured his leg. The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, was admitted to the Duchess International Hospital GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, today on account of a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone), possibly related to a chronic injury sustained during a squash match, according to the hospital’s medical director, Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi.

“He had a surgical operation performed by a team of specialist doctors including Dr. Wallace Ogufere, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon; Dr. Om Lahoti, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon; Dr. Babajide Lawson, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon; Dr. Ken Adegoke, Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care; Dr. Oladimeji Agbabiaka, Consultant Anaesthetist; and Dr. Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, Consultant Orthopaedic S (Consultant Physician & Medical Director).” The procedure was successful, and he will likely be released in the coming days.
