Reports have emerged that Arsenal are set to start contract talks with Bukayo Saka in the coming weeks.
Since breaking into the Arsenal first team in 2019, Saka has firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top wingers. His significance to the Gunners has been underlined by their struggles to attack since he sustained a hamstring problem in December. The 23-year-old is likely to return after the international break and Arsenal are eager to commit him to a long-term deal.
Arsenal hope to extend Saka’s existing contract to 2027, according to BBC Sport. He penned his final contract in 2023, with Manchester City interested, for a deal worth over £10 million per season. With two years remaining on that contract, Arsenal do not want uncertainty hanging over their star player, only want to be able to go into the future knowing their star forward is committed to the club.
Discussions between the club and Saka’s representatives have already started and negotiations will ramp up in due course. Arsenal, similarly, have to decide on key players whose contracts are expiring too, with Thomas Partey and Jorginho likely leaving this summer. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, both tied until 2027, also have reason to be in the frame for renewals.
