Lagos is said to be a center of excellence due to the commercial nature of the city, but it is also a center of several crimes, as everyone is trying to make money. A certain man has been electrocuted at Isale Agbede area of Lagos State whilst stealing cables from a transformer.
According to the residents in the area, the issue of missing cables has become a norm in that area, they actually thought that it was some greedy Nepa officials that were carrying out such actions the cables were recently replaced after previous ones were stolen by unknown miscreants. The victim tried to steal cables from the transformer, unfortunately, the light was restored, and he was immediately electrocuted. Some resident in the area thinks he is a staff of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company. According to a resident in the area,
He said “The guy here tried to steal a cable from a transformer panel but unfortunately ‘NEPA’ restored light and he was electrocuted. It happened somewhere around Lagos Island. Most people thought it was “NEPA’ officials that do come and steal them.’’
All efforts to reach Me Felix Ofulue, the spokesman of the EKEDC have proved abortive as his phone is switched off. However, Benjamin Hundeyin the public relations officer for the state police force have attested to the incident and according to him, they are still trying to identify the victim.
Hundeyin stated, “We are aware of the incident but the man has yet to be identified. The investigation is also ongoing.’’
It is however unfortunate the extent people will go to acquire wealth.
