As of the time of writing this report, three people have been confirmed dead, while one, was injured in an accident on Friday, June 30 along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The tragic accident had involved a Toyota Sienna vehicle (registration no: BDG 426 HT) and a DAF truck (registration number: RNG 558 XC).
Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, spokesperson in Ogun State, had confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta on Friday, June 30.
According to Okpe, the accident had happened near Total petrol station located on the expressway.
Seven persons had been involved in the car crash, they included: four male adults, two female adults and a child. The Sienna car driver had been blamed for causing the accident by his over-speeding.
The surviving victim had been rushed to Isara General Hospital while the deceased have been taken to FOS morgue.
The Sector Commander has meanwhile, advised motorists to shun over speeding on highways and to apply while driving.
The government in its part, has to take proactive measures to reduce the rate of incidents like these in the country, especially in highways. If there was a strict enforcement to the speed limit number, this accident could have been prevented. Check points should be established at precise areas, to this effect.
Heavy fines should also be imposed to serve as a deterrent to other rule breakers.
