Arsenal secured their place earlier on Tuesday with a 5-1 thumping of Sunderland while Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool won their respective games to set up an all premier league big boys semi-final clashes.
A 95th-minute strike from Takumi Minamino was what Liverpool needed to pull level in normal time against Leicester City. The game went into penalty shoot out and Caoimhin Kelleher saved two penalties to send Liverpool to the semi-finals.
An own goal from Janson and Jorginho’s penalty in the last ten minute of the game secured a 2-0 win over their neighbours Brentford. The London Derby clash between Tottenham Hotspurs and Westham ended in the favour of Antonio Conte’s side with a 2-1 win
In the semi-finals draw, Liverpool will go up against Arsenal while Conte’s side will face his former team Chelsea. Liverpool will be looking to advance to the final, a feat they have not achieved in the last five years since they were defeated by City on penalties.
A win for Tottenham Hotspurs will see them match their last season feat even though they were defeated by Pep Guardiola’s side while Chelsea will look to avenge their last season defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs in the fourth round.
While speaking to press, Spurs manager Antonio Conte said that the trophy is now an important one for his side. He said it’s a big one for Tottenham to advance to the semi final of the tournament and they will be looking to lift the trophy.
The first leg of both games will be played between January 4 & 5 2022.
