Cardi B, an American rapper, has stated that TikTok’s ban in the United States will not affect her.
TikTok officially shut down in the U.S. on Sunday, January 19, after its Chinese owners failed to adhere to a law introduced by President Joe Biden in April 2024, requiring the platform to be sold.
The app, known for its short-form videos, has been a significant tool for entertainment, trendsetting, and promotional activities. Many artists have utilised TikTok to connect with global audiences and promote their music through viral challenges and trending sounds.
Following the ban, a social media user with the X handle @1lex suggested that rappers, including Cardi B, who rely on TikTok for music promotion, should explore alternative careers.
The user wrote: “Now, all the female TikTok rappers gotta find real jobs. You first, @imcardib.”
In response, Cardi B said: “Babe, I’m getting a $7 million offer to do my own vitamins. I can retire you from your flipping burger job by tomorrow. Thank me though; I’ve been helping you get your $8.99 Twitter check.”
