21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz defeated 25-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets at the French Open. The reigning Wimbledon champion showcased his strength and skill, securing a 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-4 victory on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Alcaraz, who has now won all six of his career matches against ninth-ranked Tsitsipas, expressed his excitement about advancing to the semi-finals at Roland Garros. “I’m really happy to play a semi-final here again,” he said. This marks his second successive French Open semi-final, and he is eager to make amends for last year’s defeat by Novak Djokovic due to cramps.

Tsitsipas was gracious in defeat, acknowledging Alcaraz’s exceptional talent. “The kid is just too good. I can only congratulate him because he’s really playing amazing,” he said.

Alcaraz is now set to face incoming world number one, 22-year-old Jannik Sinner, in a highly anticipated semi-final clash. The pair’s head-to-head record currently stands level at 4-4. Alcaraz acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, “It’s a really difficult challenge, I’m not going to lie. I think right now he’s the best player in the world, the player who’s playing the best tennis right now.”

This year’s French Open will see a new name on the men’s trophy after Djokovic withdrew due to a knee injury. It will also be the first final without one of the ‘big three’ since 2004. The winner of the Alcaraz-Sinner match will be the favourite for the title in the final against either Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, or Alex de Minaur.

Reflecting on Djokovic’s withdrawal, Alcaraz said, “Surprise for me that he withdrew from the tournament. I think not having Djokovic in the tournament, it’s distressing for the fans not having one of the best players in the world in the tournament.”

As the French Open continues, all eyes will be on the upcoming semi-final clash between Alcaraz and Sinner. Both players are expected to bring their best game to the court, promising an exciting match for tennis fans worldwide.
