Maverick singer and activist, Charly Boy, went on a savage attack on Pastor Enoch Adeboye in the wake of the clergyman’s apology over tithing. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God had made a volte-face by apologizing for saying those who do not pay tithe would not make it to heaven, explaining that the stance was not biblically correct.
In a fiercely worded reply, Charly Boy discarded Adeboye’s apology, saying it meant nothing if the pastor didn’t turn around and say he would return tithes collected from “mumu people” who had given with the thought that they could bribe God. He went further to lash out at religious leaders, calling some “fake” and accusing Adeboye of successfully lying to his congregation for decades. He said he didn’t believe the contrite heart of his apology: “Apology? When you know exactly what you’re doing. Nonsense”, he said.
